Growing Underground is constantly expanding and we are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic junior business associate who is passionate about sustainability and the food industry. The role will suit a candidate who is looking to gain experience initiating and managing customer relationships, be involved in the operations of a rapidly growing business, and is equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be an integral part of small team, and will report directly to the head of operations. The role will support both the operational and sales teams on a daily basis. Customer interaction will be required, and the candidate must be confident talking about GU, our product and the value of sustainable food production.  Responsibilities will include:

Operations support (farm record keeping; coordinating service visits; acting as first point of contact on site)  
Accounting (invoicing, purchase ledger and grant applications)
Sales (Account setup, sales order capture and input)
Goods in (Stock control and goods receipt)
Using a range of office software, including email, spreadsheets and databases
Managing filing systems
Keeping sales records and databases up to date
Calls to customers / tracking customer contact
Tracking customer order history
Research (industry, health and safety and grant opportunities)

Candidate Profile

 

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable and persistent, with an interest in sustainability and food. The candidate will be a natural team player who is also comfortable taking initiative. Other desirable qualities include:

Ability to prioritise and multitask
Great communication skills
Self starter
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Google docs.
Great communication skills
Reliable
GCSE/equivalent or higher
Experience working in the food industry a plus
