A belated Happy New Year to you and Happy Birthday to us! 3 years ago, we launched with a few crops in an empty tunnel getting us referenced to Breaking Bad on more than a few occasions! Today marks another milestone for Growing Underground as we launch into Ocado – our first major supermarket and the UK’s largest online grocer!
The launch also introduces our sumptuous new range of five global inspired mixed salads, all taste approved by director Michel Roux Jr, of course!
New Salad Mix range:
English punchy mustard leaves and broccoli shoots
Italian kicks with rocket and garlic chives
Indian infuses fragrant fennel and coriander
Asian balances sharp purple radish with coriander
Japanese tantalises with hot wasabi and pink stem radish.
All come on a base of pea shoots for the perfectly balanced salad.
As you can probably tell, these are not your average salad leaves. They may look small and innocent but these micro herbs are big on flavour and are guaranteed to attack your senses (in a good way) adding depth and character to any dish. Serve them as a salad or stir them through your culinary creations for that extra magic. And if that wasn’t enough, they also look really pretty! ?
As the first urban farm to bring branded product to market via Ocado, it’s really encouraging that Ocado have put their faith in a small start-up that is working hard to promote innovation and sustainability in British farming. We are confident that this bodes well for the future of the urban farming industry as a whole.
The new range will also be available at our existing retailers; Teds Veg at Borough Market, Farmdrop online delivery service and Neil Brown Herbs at New Covent Garden Market which supplies the restaurant trade in London. New retailers include Planet Organic stores in London and Langridge Organic. We’re so excited that through these new and existing retail partnerships, our microherbs can be delivered directly from our farm to your table, in minimum time, meaning they are super fresh – which also means less food waste! Yay!
We are still very much at the beginning but can’t thank you enough for supporting us so far. Stick with us on this journey and do hit us up on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to let us know what you think of the new salad mixes! They are a real labour of love for us and we really hope you love them too! ?
